The design process of Trypho

This project started as to be one with the environment. The environment that I used as a base was mushroom shaped buildings that are averagely 3-4 story high and usually the colors of the buildings was similar and mending with each other. my starter idea was to build a mushroom house but a symmetrical shaped so it would easily adapt the environment with being nearly camouflaged because of the building’s exact behaviors on the each side. Then later on after some feedback I changed my symmetrical design idea to something more interesting. The structure of the building looks basic on the outside while the interior is more complexed like the façade of the building. But of course the design idea behind the façade was to define the spaces on interior. As an example the openings on the bedrooms sides are 90cm due to the privacy reasons while the walls which are closed are 30 cm to create a depth to the exterior of the building.

The plans are usually made for students since the university of Abdullah Gül is close to the are and most of it’s students live at Yeni Mahalle because the neighborhood being close and has cheap prices compared to the apartments close to the center of the city. Some of the apartments are made for nuclear families (a master bedroom and a child room). After the analysis with my group members we saw that usually in Yeni Mahalle there is either older people or nuclear families are living.

As a result, the building I designed is made to become a whole with the environmental features and the neighbors. With the mushroom shape and being 4 story building the environment stays the same while the interior defines a complexed and different spaces, also with its study area the students who live in the resident and the people in the neighborhood can socialize comfortably. They can spare books or borrow some other type of studying tools while they can study or rest in silence.
