Reflecting The Counter Coast
Şebnem Tan

According to the analysis I made in Avanos, the North Coast is more frequented than the south coast. Despite this, while there is a viewing hill to watch the South coast, there is no structure or topographical element to experience the North coast. The aim of this project in the context of Avanos is for people to experience the opposite shore. While doing this, walkable roof roads and inclined surfaces can be used on the project. In addition, topographic recreation areas were created on the land and these topographies were used as a space dividing element.

For the education model, I researched the concept of "multi", which I came across on the opposite shore, that is, on the north side. Avanos has a multi-texture thanks to the multi-culture it contains. The form that best reflects this concept is circular forms. In order to preserve this tissue, young people from both the country and abroad should be kept here. Therefore, a system with international diploma validity was used with an education system called BTEC. In this system, it is possible to specialize in the field by taking elective courses in 11th and 12th grades. The school, which includes 6 main branches, has a special class for each branch besides the classical classes. These special classes are opened to their own special compartments in the name of recreation areas. For example, in front of the Landbase lesson, it has its own experiment garden, and Business and Tourism has a common terrace where they can have conversations together. The part called Creativity is built on the ground floor reserved for itself, where it can meet all kinds of events.

In order for the public to stay in Avanos, this institution wants to draw attention with its sections open to the public. For example, the sections we call the library and gym are at points that can be easily reached when you get off the walkable roads without interfering with the private part of the school.
