HIGH SCHOOL WITH AN ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION MODEL

A contemporary non-formal educational high school where the public meets with the water by participating workshop events in Avanos.  The campus is organized as a campus that will serve not only students but also all citizens, integrated with the city and eliminating the lack of existing social facilities in the Avanos. This situation makes it possible for limited resources to be shared and used more efficiently with the entire public.This school has a capacity of 150 students. Main goal is to provide the public spaces that are missing in Avanos with the spaces in the ‘’Heart of Avanos’’. To protect the quality of Kızılırmak, Avano's heritage of pottery culture, and gain modern agriculture teachings. While students are given theoretical knowledge with plant courses in the education system, they have the chance to practice in mock-up field areas. These areas are open to everyone and teach modern agricultural techniques that do not exist in Avanos.

The pedestrian flow through the main street is integrated into the site with public stairs with ramps and a route supported by landscape. The pedestrian first reaches the campus square by feeding from the periphery that borders the training blocks.

Since the aim of bringing people together in the public was to be done with water, tried to touch the water in as much way as possible. There was an attempt to touch the water too much because people were tried to be brought together in public areas thanks to water.

In this context, algae are used in order to clean the water of the Kızılırmak and this idea is also present with algae panelers on the facades of the buildings.

River life is intended to increase physical activity including water and natural elements.  This area's primary attractions include a boardwalk with a floating garden, canoe, and kayak activities.

River walk allows users to enjoy nature environment closer and at slower pace, near the water element of the river. Through sensory symbiosis interaction with vegetation and waterbody are the main feature for this area.

People living in Avanos can benefit from the library, indoor and outdoor sports areas and other social facilities in the area. Within the texture of the area, hobby gardens, sports, picnics and meadow areas can also be used. The activities in the area are designed to be a part of the daily life of the local people and aim to add something to the environment of the area.
