School of Wines
Nihat Ayan

In addition to many beauties, one should not forget the fertile vineyards in Avanos, the distinguished district of the city of Nevşehir, which has a historical and natural texture. While the grapes grown in these vineyards are used in many areas, they become a raw material in the wine identified with Nevşehir.

"School of wines" was designed as a school that aims to add value to the added value of these grapes. Young people, who will be able to acquire all kinds of knowledge about wine from A to Z, will also have the opportunity to exhibit and even sell the wines they have obtained through their harvests. The school's understanding of international education will encourage students to study languages. With some elective courses, they will have the chance to turn to different professions of winemaking. This school, which trains new, vigorous and educated individuals for the future who will take care of the wine culture, is also designed to develop the city's economy and increase the level of social relations. While walking on the viewing bridge, people will find themselves immersed in the vineyards, after learning some information about production and storage in the cellar, they will peruse wine collection and taste their wines against the river.

While the site is built on 3 basic masses, this project gains a holistic structure with its road axes and green landscape. These 3 blocks include the school building, the warehouse building where the grapes harvested and the supplies used to meet the field's needs are stored, and the public building that includes the cellar, exhibition and tasting areas. As the facade design, natural masonry stone and wood were preferred in order not to disturb the holistic and authentic structure of the city.
