Gastronomy High School

Food culture occupies an important place in Avanos and it is desired to introduce the food culture to the tourist citizens. However, there is not enough education or an interesting place on this subject. Avanos is very rich in terms of its geography and enriching it by combining this natural richness with its food culture is the main point of this project. While the project was being designed, the urban texture of Avanos was completely set out. Reference points played a major role in shaping the project. The gastronomy high school included in this project is a high school that has direct connections with the public and has many areas in terms of social area. By designing a high school in this way, I aimed to increase the interaction between the public and students and to offer a more effective education. This structure, which is intertwined with the outside world with its design that has a very transparent structure, is different from other gastronomy schools in these aspects. In addition, I aimed to create the character of the building with the ramp system in the interior and exterior. While the ramps on the outside accompany the texture of the city, the ramp on the inside offers an effective experience inside the building. On the top floor, there is an area called the viewing terrace, which is reached by a ramp. While the public and students interact intensively on the other floors, the top floor is reserved for students to rest, attend theoretical classes and offices. In this way, the areas belonging to the students were determined without being sharp.
