Freedom High School

Avanos is a region that differentiates itself in the Central Anatolia region. Water divides the region in two, this separation leads to a separation not only physically but also emotionally. The power of "Old Avanos" and "New Avanos" water gives rise to these two concepts. At the same time, the water that divides the region in two also undertakes the task of uniting and fusing them. The starting point of my project was Kızılırmak, that is, water. I observed that the beach gave the region unique features. Water is good for human psychology, it provides the flexibility to feel the feeling of freedom by touching it with its relaxing effect. While designing the high school as a spatial reaction, the motomot education system based on the teaching of abstract concepts in long narrow corridors indoors, where all the fun is tried to fit into the fifty-minute lessons, was lined up in the same classrooms. side by side; Conditional spaces where social relations are piled up should go beyond being a closed box where freedom and permeability are not felt.
In between classes, students are jealous of their friends who spend time in front of the window in the garden. The most important of my design decisions is to design permeable structures that can relate to nature and water. The only building that can connect the old and new Avanos is the stone bridge. The stone bridge is generally used by vehicles. I designed a bridge for the use of pedestrians and cyclists passing through the project area, the bridge has an undulating structure based on water waves and this undulating axis connects to the square in the project area. The square was created by combining the axles created for pedestrians and cyclists. The single-storey design of the buildings and the connection of the entrances to the square are the students' ability to touch nature while communicating with the outside. Freedom Square is an area where people and nature come together and liberate. The amorphous form of the building comes from the axis created with reference to the water wave. It aims to go beyond being a closed box. Unlike the usual spaces, it is aimed to design an education building that is intertwined with nature and provides flexibility.
