Tuğba Ersoy / Sow*Grow*Know

It caught my attention that although the majority of the houses in Hürriyet District are detached, not enough vegetables and fruits are grown. Based on this, I designed a social education center for non-working housewives living in the region and students studying in schools close to the region to take care of the soil and be informed about agriculture.

The social life center includes classrooms and a conference hall. The agricultural areas connected to the social center can be easily reached by going to the back through the door behind the reception, located right opposite the entrance. There are lesson areas and stands in the classrooms where you can practice. There are sales stalls located between the social area and hobby gardens and can be accessed from the classroom. These stalls sell vegetables and fruits produced behind the social center. The conference hall is a large hall where people knowledgeable about agriculture will come and give training and seminars. When necessary, chairs can be collected and stored in the storage room in the living room to create a large and spacious area. Theatre or play-style events can be organized in this large area.

Hobby gardens located next to the social center are small agricultural areas given primarily to those living in the building, where people can engage in private activities for short periods of time. It is also possible to do mini farming on the balconies of houses. Short-rooted vegetables such as parsley and basil can be grown in pots placed on balconies.
