Housing + in Hürriyet, Kayseri
ARCH201 ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN I
Gizem Akyürek / Social Housing
Social Housing featured in 'Hürriyet,' is strategically situated to offer a supportive living environment. The principal aim of the project is to create a communal space that functions as a place for relaxation and social interaction. Additionally, it is specifically designed to empower women by providing them with a dedicated space to participate in entrepreneurial activities. This multifaceted approach aims to contribute to the well-being and inclusivity of the community members, ensuring that the space serves various needs under the project's concept of "inclusive". That public space is designed with different levels in the area and supported by the use of the tensile membrane structure to highlight the public space.
In terms of building design, various units are strategically allocated for diverse housing functions, ensuring that different users can find specific units tailored to their living needs. Also, the main goal of these units is to ensure that each residence includes a space for agricultural activities. The rooftop area, supporting public space activities, serves as a versatile working and relaxing space for the residents. Women who live in the housing units can utilize this common rooftop space to produce handmade food and products that can be sold in the public space. Additionally, the rooftop space is enriched with a green area, which serves as a social and relaxing place for residents. In addition, this approach goes beyond providing shelter and fosters a connection with nature within the housing community.
