Youssra Kabbou Endless Aurora

Situated within Lunapark Meydani, the Endless Aurora project derives its conceptual impetus from its elevated point atop Buyukada, acknowledged with a distinguished dark sky certificate. The island's historical association with astronomy, marked notably by the discovery of a Mars crater, profoundly affected our design rationale. Functioning as an inclusive space, it extends a warm welcome to individuals of different age groups and backgrounds, facilitating engagement with astronomy through interactive exhibitions, a projection dome, observation platforms, and workshops.

Encompassing an ethos of community and inclusivity, the project integrates various natural building techniques, including rammed earth and natural wooden methodologies, with select structures adopting hybrid approaches. The dome, a pivotal architectural element, incorporates a quad sphere design realized with natural wood. Beyond its astronomical purview, the Endless Aurora project offers supplementary experiential dimensions, including educational programs, camping programs and moonlit gardens, elevating its status as a nuanced celestial observatory and fostering a confluence of exploration and communal connection.
