Social Gathering Space at Büyükada

 

The aim of the design, which was made by using the social culture of Büyükada, was to bring people together trough ART. With the opportunities design offers, it allows people to interact with each other while benefiting from this area. Offering approximately 1500 square meters of indoor and semi-open spaces, this design also aims to become the landmark of Büyükada/Lunapark Square. In this context, it is necessary for people to experience with their five senses by keeping experience in the foreground. "INCLUSIVE DESIGN" with its appeal to people of all ages in Büyükada. Due to the usage of stone and wood, which are traditional materials of Büyükada, "natural building techniques and materials "Social responsibility" design, as it provides opportunities to people of all ages and walks of life and protects their cultural assets.

Natural Stone walls and wooden frames are constructed by natural building materials culture of Büyükada. Büyükada is one of the most significant place in terms of 'wooden structure' likewise Historical Greek Orphanage. The reason why chosen natural stone is sustainable, easy to construct, biodegradable, provides thermal mass, climatic design priorities.
