Raziye Yılmaz Sensory Symphony

The flowers that make up the texture of Büyükada are the starting point of the project concept. In this project, we worked on a space where the flowers you can see in Büyükada are processed and can create a sensory symphony. The concept of SENSORY SYMPHONY is an innovative approach to design that focuses on engaging the senses to create immersive and memorable experiences. This design philosophy goes beyond the traditional emphasis on aesthetics and functionality and seeks to evoke emotional responses and connections with the user. In the project, the idea of a large-scale square was adopted. The spaces where the senses are experienced are placed around this square. Indoor spaces are supported by open spaces with an open air market and botanical mock-up area. The inclusion of activity areas in the square with semi-open spaces strengthened the sensory experience. With the integrated work of the spaces, it is tried to make it easier for people to come together and to make it a reason for all people. On the sloping land where the site is located, the accessibility of all people, especially the disabled, is at the forefront. The main building material is wood and rammed earth, reflecting the texture of Büyükada. In the mass with primary function, rammed earth and wood are used together. In the other masses, only wood is used. The design is based on its integrative power that will enable them to overcome the lack of social space in Büyükada and maintain their culture.
