Social Gathering Space at Büyükada

The project I designed under the topic "Gathering Space" in Istanbul Büyükada also includes the subheadings "social responsibility", "inclusive design", and "natural building techniques and materials". While designing the project, I decided on a project design by taking advantage of Büyükada's rich ethnic origins, hosting a lot of tourists, visiting people from different geographies, and the rich vegetation of the island. In this regard, my project title, which focuses on scent, which is a universal language, was "The Art Of Scent". In addition, water-sensitive structures and landscaping were designed by taking advantage of Büyükada's rainy weather conditions and the slope of the land. The project includes rain gardens, rain harvesting areas and irrigation canals. In terms of building systems, the lower floor is a masonry stone wall while the upper floors are carried by a wooden frame system. Structures are divided into two functions: experience structure and trial structure.
