Buse Nur Kaya Forest Point
The concept of the project focuses on the forest located right next to the site and home to trees such as gum, red pine, and turpentine. These forests have not yet been planned in a way to contributes to the daily life of inhabitants with forest-specific activities. A building program attracting users to the forest, aims to increase awareness of nature and create a new point of interest in Büyükada. While attracting the crowd around the dock which can cause dangerous conditions, the project contributes to creating a distributed population and livable island. A passive building was created by considering the shading, sun direction, and climatic conditions on the island. Slip straw walls, which is a symbolic method in the region, and rammed earth were preferred to create sustainable buildings. The terraces that face the sunrise and sea, while protecting users from excessive sun and rain at the lower level. The site connects the users from Yılmaz Turk Street to the forest with steps that create activity areas, an elevator inside the structure, and ramps that don't exceed 5% slope. The monthly calendar of activities has been carefully planned, preventing the destruction of the forest due to excessive use.
