CREATIVITY FROM RECYCLING // NISA OKUR
In our modern society, the importance of recycling and sustainability cannot be overstated. Recycling not only helps protect the environment by reducing waste and conserving resources but also serves as a platform for creativity and education. The project revolves around the idea of repurposing existing elements in the environment to create something new and meaningful. Inspired by the natural landscape of the selected area, particularly the existing steps and meadow, the design of the building is seamlessly integrated into the surroundings. I chose this area because people come to the stairs from the right and left. These steps are used both as a seating area and as a pedestrian path. Moreover, these steps are divided into 2 parts in the middle and there is a meaningless gap in the middle. Therefore, I placed the structure in this gap. I placed this structure at the heights of the existing steps in the area so that people could access it from the ground, from the third and fifth steps. A central component of the project is a 40 square meter close workshop space where individuals can unleash their creativity by making various designs using recycled materials. From mosaic paintings made of broken ceramic pieces to sculptures created from old plates and glass bottles, the workshop encourages participants to explore the artistic possibilities of recycling. Additionally, I also put an exhibition area in the semi-open space for the exhibition of the designs made in the workshop, so that the projects created to raise awareness and inspire people about recycling will be exhibited. With the circulation I created in this area, I enabled people to visit the entire exhibition. Recognizing the importance of instilling environmental consciousness from a young age, the project includes a dedicated play area for children. Here, children can engage in playful activities with toys crafted from recycled materials, fostering an appreciation for sustainability in a fun and interactive manner. By combining artistry, education, and sustainability, this project aims to not only beautify the environment but also inspire individuals to rethink their relationship with waste. Through creative reuse of materials and engaging educational initiatives, it seeks to promote a culture of recycling and environmental stewardship in the community.
