AIRPLANE MUSEUM/ÇAĞATAY YAYLA
Since this area used to be an aircraft maintenance and repair area, I wanted to build a museum that tells the history and foundation of this place. One of the reasons why I chose the exact location where it is located is that I think people will want to look at it because there is a remarkable airplane statue here. Another reason is that it is the intersection point of people walking on the road. The third and last reason is that I chose this area because it is an open area and I wanted to capture the view of the people's garden.
I always wanted to keep ramps at the forefront, so I used ramps instead of stairs. But no matter how much I liked this idea, the main problems were the unusable areas under the ramps and the inability to integrate with the environment. That's why I wanted to move the structure to the water and make these areas unusable. In this way, people can visit the museum comfortably, witnessing both the cooling water on their faces and the beautiful view.
I added 4 different base levels in the structure. These activity boxes initially include a brief introduction of the museum, a closed section that tells the complete history of this region consisting of miniature models in a 30 square meter closed area, a place where children can play with airplane toys so that they can learn the history better, and finally, a replica of the planes found here, scaled down to 1/100. There are 4 basic regions, including figures. Additionally, there is a large terrace where they can watch the view, observe with a telescope, and relax.
