OBSERVATORY //DÄ°LARA ARSLAN
Concept of this Project is observatory. Watching sky and searching space, gives many different information to us about space, planets, stars and other celestial bodies. This place which is in the Kayseri Millet Bahçesi, includes close, semi open and open spaces. Here will be a good place to learn and search about space for everyone such as children, families, adults or youngs. This building is designed for people to learn and watch about space. Firstly, in the open area, thanks to the planet hopscoth, everyone enter the area from the road. Children can also learn planets with different sizes and colors by jumping and funning. After that, visitors reach the close space. In this circular building, there is a screen where visitors can learn the events and topics on that month. Because there will be monthly activities according to the movements of celestial bodies. For example, presentation of meteories from space, narration of the life of stars, presentations of solar systems or telescopes, and narrations about features of sun, moon and planets. Then there is a conference and watching room where scientist come and gives information to the visitors, with some visual videos and photos from the big circular screen in the room. Moreover, while visitors are going out, they can see and touch a real telescope in front of the event screen. After this building visit, in the area, under the special designed shading, visitors g oto another place. This place is a semi open space with its circular shape. In this place, visitors can see many different models about space such as planets, solar system, sun, moon and stars. These models are in the storage surrounding with glass walls, in the middle of the space. And also in two sides of the space, there are visuals and photos of space and celestial bodies on the walls, according to the topic of that month. And in the nights, security men close, front of these photos with a special designed moveble walls which works like an accordion system which is fixed to main walls. After visitors see and visit this semi open space, they can also experience the open space. Visitors can spend their time effectively by watching the special designed screen which is above them and under the shading. All in all, every ages and every kinds of visitors can come, visit, see, learn and also fun at the same time, thanks to this place which includes close, semi open and open spaces. Therefore here will be a good opportunity for the people who are interested in space and planets, and also this spaces will be good opportunity for anyone who see here the first time in the Millet Bahçesi.
