PLAYGROUND DESIGN // ARMAGAN GÜL
Playground design for children aged 2-4 years. The idea of the project is to design a space where this age group can safely spend time with their parents.
The floor of the designed area is softer and the heights are lower than other playgrounds. It was aimed to minimize damage in case of a possible fall. The area includes hills, tunnels, climbing hills, a sandpit and seating areas. It has a form that takes reference from the road.
There is a closed area in the direction of the sunrise so that the area can be shaded due to the space. A shaded area was designed for the rest of the area. The position of the trees also shaped the form.
Wall-like heights were drawn around the area to prevent children from getting out. However, instead of this wall being completely flat, activity areas were added in an integrated way with the area so that it does not create a feeling of captivity for children and parents. And the space is used more efficiently.
For the indoor area, a space design with natural snacks suitable for children. Openings facing in and out of the space were added so that those who wish can stay in the space and continue to spend time. And those who want can take what they want and leave. Since it is close to the road and open to a grassy environment, the area outside the playground is also visible.
In summary, this project provides a more customized space in the park for parents and children.
