WHY DON'T WE DO IT ON STAIRS// AYŞE SENA KARACABEY
Although there is a children's park in the selected area, camellias for families and a library for education, there is no social interaction area where young people can have free fun. That's why I put young people at the center of my design. I've always found stairs very interesting. And at the beginning of the design process, the design was simply stair treads and activity boxes.
Even though I was happy with the idea, I had question marks about the structure. The main problems were the unusable areas under the stairs and the lack of integration with the surroundings. As a solution to these problems, I used the artificial hills that already existed on the land and placed the structure on the edge of the hill. Although these hills seemed like a disadvantage for the supply at first, I realized what a great advantage they actually were during the process.
After a lot of work, I corrected the unnatural parts in the structure and added level differences. I decided on 4 activity boxes.
These activity boxes consist of 4 rooms: photo-taking room, mirror room, party room and backstage - warehouse. The stage, which is naturally formed due to the shape of the building, can be used for theater and concert purposes. The DJ area at the highest elevation will provide the necessary environment for parties, and the large terrace will create an area for watching the view.
Apart from this, people of all ages will be able to visit the stairs according to their interests and the building will serve as a meeting point as it is on the hill and can be seen from everywhere.
