SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER/KADIKÖY HETEROTOPIA/ Şebnem Tan
The building was designed inspired by the heterotopic structure and passages of Kadıköy. The purpose of the building is to bring together people who want to realize their entrepreneurial ideas in the Kadıköy region, where diversity coexists. While the reference to axes and entrance and exit setup belongs to the passages, the cube in the middle of the building refers to heterotopia. The cube works as an idea hub and can also be used as a Forum area, coworking space, and public event area depending on the activity flow. The terrace setup passes through the cube in places and creates mezzanine floors. In this way, an open-semi-open-closed space setup was achieved in the building.
When we look at the building functions, in the minus code there is a forum area, event rooms and conference rooms operating in the cube, while the ground floor is mostly used for training rooms. The takeaway cafe area on the first floor operates with ramp and main circulation. In addition, the terrace at the front is the open space continuation of the foyer area of the cube. On the upper floors, there are areas such as social impact labs, creativity workshops, technology center and open library corner. In the function that becomes more specialized as you go up to the upper floors, there are offices for cooperatives and incubation centers as well as government management offices.
