KIDSSPACE ISTANBUL /Buse Yılmaz
Istanbul is a rich city in many cultural and social aspects. Kadıköy is a district where cultural and social richness can be easily felt. Kidsspace Istanbul project aims to add richness to this wealth. It pursues a design approach that aims to create lively, inclusive spaces for children of certain age groups. It tries to create special areas where children can socialize, play and learn at the same time in Kadıköy, one of the districts of Istanbul where urbanization is taking place very rapidly.
This facility, which strives to provide a dynamic initiative, also aims to design various areas that will meet the physical, cognitive, social and emotional needs of children. These spaces include flexible classrooms, an interactive playground, a STEM lab, and creative arts studios. It tries to encourage physical activity and creative play with an indoor interactive playing area and an outdoor nature inspired playin area in the courtyard. Additionally, the Community lounge, cafe and picnic areas within the courtyard provide a welcoming space for parents and caregivers to relax and participate in community activities. It is designed together with common working areas, multi-purpose meeting rooms and offices.
In addition to improving the quality of life of children in Kadıköy, Kidsspace aims to create a reference point for child-friendly urban areas in Istanbul.
