MARINE HUB/Hamza Aboulhelw

Sea snot, or müsilaj, is a recognizable phenomenon in the Sea of Marmara. This issue first emerged in 2021 and recurred in 2023. It has become a significant threat to Istanbul, particularly in Kadıköy, directly impacting residents, marine life, tourism, and fishermen.

The main entrance from Rıhtım Avenue caters to visitors arriving via either pathway. Two additional access points exist: one through the cafe and another through the mini-museum.

An experimental ramp encircles the aquarium, leading visitors through the first floor. Here, they can engage with various spaces, including the volunteer hub, co-working space, and exhibitions, while still maintaining a view of the aquarium.

Cantilevered piers offer a unique perspective for visitors to interact with the waterfall. They can observe the aquarium and marine life directly beneath them.

The rooftop provides observation areas equipped with telescopes. A pledge wall allows visitors to commit to environmental action.

Gradient terraces descend towards the courtyard, where the aquarium is located. Visitors can interact with the waterfall from each of these terraces. A remote-controlled, retractable PVC fabric roof offers waterproofing and sun protection.

The facade, constructed from perforated mesh rusted steel, presents a contemporary and vibrant aesthetic.
