Migration Policy Hub / Fatma Bilge Özgür
MIGRATION POLICY-HUB emerged with the idea of a management governance center where Kadıköy's cosmopolitan and tolerant committee could meet with immigrants. The aim of the project was to create a building where immigrant policies and rights would be regulated in the best possible way, rebuilt and awareness on this issue would be raised. Considering the vision of demolishing invisible walls through communication, permeability was taken into account in both the mass and functions of the building. Considering the artistic power of Kadıköy, new media was chosen as the spoken language of the project. In order to turn the limited lighting in the project area into an advantage, a new media wall was created in the darkest point of the city. It is planned to project various new media works, documentaries of immigrants and films related to the subject on this surface. Dicossion steps are created where the reflective surface meets the ground, where people can talk and be understood. The building, which consists of five different floors including the basement, has a configuration that becomes more specialized as you go from the ground floor to the upper floors. On the ground floor there is a temporary exhibition about migration, dissociation steps and a cafe. There is a permanent exhibition and radio podcast units upstairs. When we come to the second floor, we are greeted by classrooms, which are educational units. Upstairs, policy and data labs work alongside the conference room. There is a terrace for office workers on this floor. After the terrace, the open areas of the library were created on the upper floor. The exterior features splashes of some of the reflective surfaces inside and dynamic sunshades through which solar energy is converted into night illumination.
