Court-hesion/Arzu Üçler
Kadıköy, where the project area is located, is one of the most popular settlements in Istanbul. There are many factors such as human profile, living conditions, standards, education level and human population. It is inevitable to make a design taking all this diversity into consideration. Kadıköy's human population and diversity are among the most striking elements. It is very national and people of all ages live or live there. This diversity creates a number of deficiencies, and these sometimes reach a global dimension. Considering all these, the idea of designing a governance building that appeals to global citizenship and especially the young population led to the formation of the concept. COURT-HESION is a global civic and governance building with a particular focus on heritage. Most of the users here will be young population. However, some guiding designs have also been added in order to serve all people. A pedestrian bridge connecting the dock and the building was designed. The starting leg of this pedestrian bridge is the Kadıkoy pier. The purpose of this bridge, combined with observation stairs and COURT-STAGE, is to provide direct human guidance to the structure and to connect the structure with the dock. Various presentations and exhibitions based on the concept of the building are held on these observation stairs and in the court section. From here, people will want to find out what's going on inside and reach out. Then, the building contains a design consisting of a total of 2 separate masses connected by bridges inside. One side serves public and the other side serves special needs. The functions inside are determined according to the GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP FOR YOUTH concept and the functions of a governance building. While a simple and plain appearance is achieved from the outside, i. Movement was added to the design with the colors, materials and bridges on the facades. Two different materials were used on the facade. The first is a transparent mesh facade and the other is red polycarbonate glass used on interior facades.
