Beyond Limits, Art & Mental health wellness/Omama Zayat
"Beyond Limits" is an innovation hub that goes beyond conventional limits, creating a third place that enhances the mental wellness of the community through art and non-medical therapeutic methods, offering the locals an oasis to retreat from the stresses of daily life. The design approach combines biophilic principles, the integration of natural elements, and the use of pavilions and 3D printing to create a unique and impactful social innovation hub in Kayseri.
The hub embodies an innovative concept that transcends boundaries, merging history with innovation, and inspiring locals to break free from monotonous routines. The primary goal is to foster productivity, and mental wellness, and provoke economic development in the region. Additionally, the project establishes partnerships between local businesses, NGOs, and citizens to create job opportunities and support social inclusion.
The design of "Beyond Limits" incorporates biophilic principles, embracing a connection with nature. An organic form envelops the hub and creates a serene scenery for the interior and exterior views. The intelligent use of natural lighting is achieved through a skylight that bathes the interior spaces in the sunshine. The building's facade utilizes insulating capillary translucent glass to provide excellent thermal insulation and diffuse interior light. Furthermore, the interior spaces integrate natural elements, featuring a water pod surrounded by greenery at the entrance.
To distinguish between the existing building and the new proposal, the design approach employs the concept of pavilions and 3D printing and light materials. Each structure will possess a distinct appearance, contributing to the overall site silhouette while showcasing the harmony between the old and the new.
