Art Hole - Asmaa Elmahdy
This project aims to develop a Cultural and Artistic Center in Kayseri, which will serve as a platform to promote and preserve the city's rich cultural heritage. In addition to showcasing artistic talent, the center will contribute to the economic development of Kayseri by incorporating multi-functional hybrid coworking spaces within the existing residential buildings on the street level. This innovative approach allows for the preservation of the street's memory while also providing opportunities for collaboration and entrepreneurship. This approach not only adds character and authenticity to the site but also creates an inclusive environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and economic growth.
An intriguing entrance has been incorporated between the two buildings, serving as a transitional space that connects the street level with the art center. This entrance is designed to captivate visitors and entice them into the world of art and culture, further enhancing the sense of place and identity within Kayseri.
The mass of the building symbolizes a departure from the established traditions of Kayseri. As art cannot be confined within rigid boundaries, the design metaphorically explodes from within the building, radiating its influence and impact on the surrounding environment. This creative eruption reshapes the perception of space, creating an immersive and engaging experience for visitors.
By defying conventions and embracing a more fluid and expressive approach, the design captures the essence of artistic freedom and innovation. It challenges the notion that architecture must adhere to rigid rules, allowing the art within the center to flourish and inspire.
