Istanbul Literature

Research Center

Istanbul, which Yahya Kemal said "Even loving a simple district is worth a lifetime", inspired many writers and poets in our literary history and was created over and over again by their pen ... There are very few cities in the world that have been the subject of novels and stories as different as Istanbul. Beyond being just a place in the story, this ancient city stands out like a hero. Perhaps the main reason we love some works is that the subject is in Istanbul and it is written about Istanbul. ISTANBUL, AS HORACE ENGDAHL'S HIGHLIGHTS, IS AN IMPOSSIBLE LAND OF LITERATURE. Or is it another poem, another novel, another painting? Maybe you remember Orhan Pamuk's "Istanbul" now? Perhaps other works of the author, which tells about the melancholy of his city ... What comes to mind with Istanbul? Like Bedri Rahmi, do you remember the Grand Bazaar? "When I think of Istanbul, I think of the Grand Bazaar / Arm in arm with the Ninth Symphony / The Algerian anthem / A well-rounded bridal room / Tribute auction is being sold / A bride and a bridegroom is missing a bed / A chubby oud inlaid with mother-of-pearl in the corner / Tamburi Cemil Bey plays on the old record ... "2006 Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk not only announced the Turkish language and literature to the world; He linked a city whose strategic importance in the political arena and its 'multiple' structure in a cultural context was mentioned to literature. Of course, our history of literature included the works nourished from Istanbul before; however, Istanbul has never been identified with a writer in the universal mind of literature as much as it is today. Inspired by these, a research center was designed next to the brown belt of the historical peninsula. This project includes conferences, seminars, library, workshops, stage performances, archives and research areas. There is a Literature road connecting the people with the park from the project with 2 different circulation. This road consists of a ramp and allows you to visit the whole project.
