THEHIST

Mastery Research Institute

The land, which is among many historical buildings, especially Gazanfer Ağa madrasah and historical aqueduct, is in the region known as the Historical Peninsula. The region, which is in the densest residential area of Istanbul, is a neighbor to many iconic buildings. It uses Atatürk Boulevard as the main artery of its transportation due to its location between Atatürk Boulevard and Women's Market. Due to its location with the Women's Market and the density of people in the region, it is an area suitable for use as a public space.

THEHIST Mastery Research Institute idea was born from the importance given to theater in the historical peninsula and throughout Istanbul. Despite the many theatrical structures in the vicinity, there is no center neither in the city nor across the country to delve into the history of the theater.

The building, which illuminates each floor sufficiently thanks to the wide gallery opening from the top floor to the lowest floor, aims to give people the feeling of walking around a street surrounding historical buildings by reflecting the historical buildings around with glass facades.

The ground floor can be accessed through 3 entrances, connecting the park behind the Aqueduct, Atatürk Boulevard and Women's Market. THEHIST MRI has an open-air theater that uses the facades of the surrounding historical buildings as a background. The entire facade adjacent to this open air theater is designed with a kinetic wall. In this way, this facade of the building is fully opened during the long summer period when weather conditions allow, and the ground floor is transformed into a semi-open space.

The indoor theater hall is designed to accommodate 170 people. Thanks to the movable walls used on the theater floor, it has a wide opening that can create both a museum and interaction areas.

The area that can be accessed with a controlled passage, which can be used as a research center, attracts attention with the library and study areas, as well as a workshop where historical artifacts can be repaired with care.
