Intell-Unication Children University
Melike Nur Akyüz

The Intell-Unıcation Children University is a project that was located between AGU Campus and Student Village. One of the most important details that draw attention after the site analysis is that there are quite a lot of primary, secondary and high schools around the site. In the Children's University Project, since an educational area will be designed for children, the curriculum of these schools around the site was examined and focused on these missing points in the Intell-Unication Children University project. One of the biggest problems of the current education system is to blunt the intelligence development of children with a rote system. The aim of the Intell-Unication Children University is to contribute to the intellectual development of children with various activities at certain times of the year. Children who are far from rote learning and who continue to develop their intelligence, more precisely, who have acquired a systematic mindset, accept that there can be failures as well as successes in life, and when faced with such situations, they will always find a way to start from the beginning without giving up.

The idea of design supports the intellectual development of children by various activities combining with games. While working on this idea, there was time to study the working system of the brain. A striking point is that the brain holds the incoming information first in an area like a pool and then transmits it to the area responsible for the task in order to answer all incoming commands in the most accurate way (the brain divides itself into 4 main groups and each group concentrates entirely on tasks related to their own fields). My conceptual idea supports this idea, units are divided according to the tasks they are responsible for and connecting a big gathering area. The units are public areas, reading and writing areas, music areas, and meditation and gaming areas, and these units are connected to a large gathering area that is also used as the foyer for the conference hall.

When the site area is examined, the first important detail is that there are a lot of trees inside the site area. The aim of the project settlement is to cause as little damage to the environment as possible, so the reference point in the project settlement is the location of the trees around the site. According to the student village, AGU Campus, and the traffic density entrances to the building and parking area located within the site. After that, the unit where the main activity (Concert) will take place was placed in the empty space in the middle of the site, and the remaining units were grouped according to their functions and spread around this large unit. The green areas formed as a result of the spread of the units are embraced by the units and these green areas are designed as places where children can have fun. For example, the green area between the library and meditation areas is mostly used as peace gardens where children will read books in silence, while the green area next to the music classrooms is designed as a music garden consisting of colorful led piano steps, which will improve the visual and auditory intelligence of children at the same time.

Sloping roofs were used in necessary places in order to provide a hierarchy between the size and height of the space where the children are located. Wood was used in the façade design of the project in order to be in harmony with nature. In addition, in order to emphasize the horizontal distribution within the site, the wooden coating was also preferred horizontally. To emphasize the importance of the conference hall, where the concert activity will take place, a curtain wall was used by raising one click from other units. In addition, the windows of different sizes and configurations on the facade are designed to increase the imagination and intelligence development of children.
