Design approach of studio

Today, it is very important for children to meet science and fine arts from an early age in a world where children grow up playing video games and see, live and evaluate life through screen activities. The richness of the imagination of a child and the creativity it brings with it, is also fueled by the active-learning system. In addition to making a significant contribution to scientific awareness with the expertise that the school does not have, Children's University shares the nature of asking questions and the nature of in-depth learning with children in an environment of free discussion and expression, and children in this environment discover the opportunities to look at the world with their own eyes. This allows them to turn to the new and creative. Children's University, which adopts this mentality, continues its studies in many countries around the world with different models.

The different models in many Children's University studies were grouped into six groups. These:

  • Presentation-centered lessons in lecture halls

  • Activity supported lessons in lecture halls

  • Application-oriented programs carried out in the form of workshops

  • Application-supported camps conducted during holiday periods

  • Programs consisting of separate courses and application modules conducted in the same field throughout the year

  • These are programs that are carried out in different fields throughout the year and consist of separate courses and application modules that can be selected independently from each other.

Children university is the general definition of the term project. The studio aims discovery and represent the needs of generation Z and Alpha, global and contemporary alternative education near the school in the given context. Therefore, within this semester, it is expected to design an environment for children and for their instructors that allows them to feel safe and secure to discover themselves and to imagine beyond what has been seen and revealed. Active learning will be the basic mission of the Children’s University, and as an architecture design studio, this semester aim is to establish that goal through, research by design and learning by doing. Students are expected to develop AGU Children University Program and Building in the field between AGU Sumer Campus and Student Houses, for children between 6-12 ages. With using the advantages of the site, the design of the children university be aware of the context and community and integrated with AGU missions and social impact goals.
