A Meeting Area

Abdullah Topçu

A meeting area project was designed in Divrigi by establishing an interest in socially responsible architects. When the site was examined, it was seen that it was in a place that could be contacted with the great mosque and hospital of Divriği. It was proposed to abstract, modernize and reproduce the decorations as the concept of the gathering area. Specialized workshops were designed for the production of ornaments in 6 branches: Carving, Inlay, Flap, Calligraphy, weaving and embroidery. The space setup was designed with the semi-open spaces of the workshops. Another function in the space is to market the produced works and to provide a network to the producers. At the entrances of the site, the pedestrian and vehicle axes were separated from each other. The square setup was made between two buildings. In the second building, the marketing and promotion building, a technology workshop, administrative offices, resting areas and an application workshop where those invited to the event can try samples of each branch were designed. The place has an inclusive design where disabled people can reach wherever they want, and construction techniques are provided on wood, which is not foreign to Divriği.
