R(h)ope Cycle / Hilal Sevim

Gaziantep is the most developed city in Turkey, in terms of economy and culture. Being on the silk road has not only provided cultural diversity but also enabled it to develop economically. As a result of the war in Syria, many refugees started to live in Gaziantep. Inspired by the traces of ancient cultural interaction, this project was developed on weaving. The art of weaving, which includes people of both cultures, is difficult to perform and needs encouragement. However, carpet and textile production is carried out intensively in Gaziantep. As a result, serious harmful gases and substances are emitted into the environment. To touch this awareness, the Project foresees a facility that encourages the recycling of waste products and obsolete products from the factories. To emphasize recycling, R[h]ope Cycle aimed to design exhibition areas, production stands, and spaces consisting of activities. It is desired to create an integrated system and human association to benefit both the environment and economy.
