Model Factory / Halid Sahin

The aims of the digital transformation and competence center of this city are; giving people a chance to discuss their concerns and find solutions regardless of their background, identity and cultural differences, connecting young people with decision-making structures, creating environments for peer-to-peer and non-formal education, volunteering people, raising awareness, connecting the dots for young people.

The project aims to contrast the existing historical site context and create a representation of contemporary technology and design methods with both functional/practical and dramatic spaces according to its surroundings. This physical project is a version of the basic design concept that creates a body. Spaces formed by different ripples begin with connecting the points, which is also the starting point of the project concept, which brings together people from different backgrounds and creates a platform for them to connect.

The building is divided into 3 incubation clusters: the business development centre, aid and consultancy institutions and education, which are connected by bridges on the upper floors. The business development center cluster is the place where the processes of discussions, new business start-ups make decisions, and consult the necessary knowledge and experience for that business. The aid and consultancy cluster includes institutions that continue the activities of the current ASAM units and will work in cooperation with each other and the public. The training set includes learning areas with attractive methods such as library, special study areas...

The building's open floor plan and movable walls provide flexibility, versatility and help keep people connected and not separated. Most areas are linked to the areas of interaction that surround them to improve effective communication between people. It provides a visual connection between galleries, floors and natural lighting to interior spaces.

Parking lots will be removed to encourage public transport, cycling and pedestrianisation. Since the road in front of the area is one-way and the width of the road will be sufficient, a roadside parking area has been proposed, and nearby parking lots will be used when necessary. The site is in the center of Gaziantep, so it has easy access to public transport.
