CAC KAYSERI/Hamza Aboulhelw

The idea is interpretation of vernacular housing organization of the city. In Kayseri, there are some kinds of exciting organizations, sofas or courtyards. but mostly they are in a basic form organization like cubes or rectangles. Sofa (meeting place of all of the facilities) like living room- at the heart of everything, interaction to outside from two sides. and other sides are rooms. Courtyard (open space with fresh air and integration of all rooms) private and public spaces divisions. I am trying to organize a patch work of that organization in this strategy. For example, there is high school, some mosques, and Ottoman structures. So, I am trying to organize new neighborhood organization. Indeed, it’s reinterpreting the existing vernacular housing organization of Kayseri. There is a vernacular main square at the heart. with entrance, courtyard, and the building with different levels. There are staircases connecting the first and second corridor passing to atelier, multi-purpose hall, library, and auditorium. Instead of bridging separate buildings, the interaction between spaces using sofa and courtyard. I create buffer zones between space and other. The material chosen is Optik panels concrete by creating a brutalist affect highlighting morphological part of the building.
