Pin-Point/Sükrü Durak

"Dilek" peninsula, which is an area of historical and natural values that we see in many valuable areas in our country, also includes the village of Söke, Doganbey, which is the working area of the project. These historical and natural values have fed the area over the years and gave it a soul. The culture that each society has accumulated has affected their architecture and their lifestyles, as well as the Armenian community and culture living in Doğanbey village, which has had an impact on this region in many areas such as stonemasonry. With the settlement of the locals in the lower Doğanbey village, the project area, which was called the old Doğanbey, has become semi-abandoned, open to the national park area it is in, and to the proposals for new venues such as a research center and visitor center. The existing visitor space, which is the first place to be encountered at the entrance to the village, was seen as a nice welcoming place for the village, open to development and articulated. Based on this, the project called "Pinpoint" aims to welcome visitors and introduce the village to researchers and visitors as an entry mechanism to the village. The "Pinpoint" project, which establishes a link between the existing visitor center and an old ruin to its west, hosts researchers on the established link and continues to use the visitor center as a public display center and exhibitions. The main purpose of these exhibitions is to introduce the village with virtual reality, and to prepare these exhibitions and to conduct research, "Pinpoint" is used as a space connection, where researchers have the opportunity to conduct research on augmented and virtual reality. The project, called "Pinpoint", aims to enlarge the existing visitor area and associate it with the old ruined building to the west. The current spaces of the visitor center were found to be problematic as public and private spaces, and within the framework of the design concept, the lower spaces of this visitor center were left as private spaces for research assistants and the upper floor as public spaces. In this context, an accommodation center that can be reached from the lower floor was presented to the researchers buried in the ground and a special entrance was given from the north. The new spaces, which work as extensions of the visitor center, are divided into two as north and south, and a new material experiment has been made on the north façade to create a bright space inside. This new material, called sandwich glass, consists of heating two double-sided glasses at high temperatures and placing epoxy and stone inside so that there is an air gap. The stones are stones collected from the place and as a reference to the stonemasonry of the village, they have an important feature of expression. Similarly, black fiber cement was used on the south façade of the project and serves as a light balancing function for the interior spaces. In addition, the pure appearance of this material contrasts with the stone structure next to the visitor center, revealing its characteristics. Explosive openings were also used in the openings of the building, providing a contrasting understanding with the building next to it with its expression technique, as well as being articulated between the old ruins and the visitor center as a friend of the village with its dynamism reference to the hilly settlement. The new structure, which includes the old ruined structure in places, also reveals it by making explosions in some parts. The places where the old building stays in the new structure host augmented reality shows under the name of VOXON community interaction and make it open to the public. The elevated topography in the south was used in the project as it is, and provided a conference area for the public as an open-air seating and exhibition viewing space. Visitors to the area sitting in this area sit facing the visitor center and watch the projection exhibitions projected on this stone structure. While providing information about the area in these exhibitions and conferences, they are also designed to be points of community meeting and interaction.
