Design Concept

Dilek peninsula is a very important region in terms of natural riches. Many animal and plant species live in the area, which was declared a National Park in 1966. It is among the most visited important regions for plant and animal research in Turkey and the world. The Dilek Peninsula, which hosts many plant species both in the sea and on the land, is a region frequently used by researchers. In this Hub design, which will serve as a Research and Visitor center, a concept was prepared to support Flora and Fauna research. In the museum and exhibition areas and the visitor center part of the project, which tries to bring together the old and the new, the Research-Visitor Center design with innovative designs has been discussed.

Building Program

In the project, the old visitor building was preserved and an attempt was made to create a Hub with an addition to the area nearby. The functions of the visitor center building, which is currently in use, have been preserved and some functions have been added. The building is divided into two permeable areas according to its functions, namely the East and West wings. The administrative center is located in the west wing of the building. All administrative units of Re-Vi Hub are located here, both downstairs and upstairs. At the same time, all service areas required for the East wing are also located on this side. In the east wing, there are permanent exhibition areas for Flora and Fauna. On the lower floor, there are Interactive screen rooms. You can feel yourself inside the Dilek Peninsula in this room where the walls are completely made of screens.

To the east of this building is the research center and the accommodation unit. The accommodation and research center has its own courtyard. Working together in a common courtyard, these units, located at different levels with the slope, were designed to isolate researchers from the dense area and create a more comfortable working area. However, the research center has been integrated into the field so that researchers can easily communicate with the Re-Vi Hub without being completely isolated from the field.

The new Visitor center is located directly opposite the entrance to the site. Located on a lower level with the land slope, this Visitor center is in communication with the old building. The entrance with the orientation of the walls is located in the very center of the buildings. There is a common area and a welcome area here. This area, which is connected to the lower floor by a staircase, overlooks a gallery space. There is a tree in this gallery space that connects the lower floor and the upper floor. On this floor, the service areas required for the visitor center are hidden at the back. When we proceed in the south direction, an open auditorium welcomes us at the end of the building. This area, which is reserved for presentations and presentations when necessary, is designed to replace the presentation room in the old building.

After the auditorium, it is reached through a door that overlooks the valley and the Delta. In this area, which enables us to establish a visual communication with the Menderes Delta, which has an important place in the formation of the region, areas have been created for visitors to spend time and rest. In this area, there is an amphitheater for outdoor activities when necessary.

Slope and Harmony

While designing the mass, the terrain conditions were used as a reference in this design. Being in harmony with the slope in the area has been the primary design goal while creating the areas. Likewise, trying to establish a unity with the valley in the area has been one of the important concerns in the formation of form.
