Re-Collect/Fatmanur Kayaalp

Re-Collect project is a project designed in the Karahantepe region of Şanlıurfa province. The project area also includes the district of Karahantepe, which is one of the regions of the “Taş Tepeler” (Stone Hills) project. Unlike the Göbeklitepe region, the Karahantepe region is a Neolithic site with human-oriented findings. These areas were used as gathering areas by people in the past. For this reason, it is the project concept idea to gather people to ensure the sustainability of this area, which was used as a gathering area in the past as a project concept. For this reason, it was aimed to reflect this idea by gathering people in a circle. At the same time, it is aimed to provide human circulation flow with its circular shape.

The main purpose of the project design is to bring people in the surrounding area and people from the city center to the excavation site. In addition, the project, it is aimed to create a distinction between both function and privacy between the level differences and the spaces. There are three main masses in the design. These are the visitor center, research center, and accommodation units. The visitor center is located at the +6,00 m level and is open to the public. The research center is used at +2.00 m levels, and it is aimed to be used only for researchers. Accommodation units, on the other hand, is planned to be used exclusively for researchers at the level of +1.00 m. It is aimed to create an integration area between the two masses by allowing the common use of the research center and accommodation's courtyards. At the same time, the difference in level between the two masses allows for spatial separation.

As the human circulation of the design, there is a public circulation flow at the +6.00 m level, that is, in the parking area where people enter the area, and in the visitor center building, where public people are allowed to use it. This flow starts with an inspection in the visitor center and ends with the excavation area, after an additional control in the excavation area, then to the courtyard of the visitor center, and then exit from the area. Other circulations are divided into two as semi-private, at the accommodation level, that is, the researchers who come to the +1.00 m levels by car go to the accommodation units or the research center. At the same time, at the research center level, there is also a human flow at the +2.00 m level to the excavation area and from the area to the building so that researchers can go to the excavation site.

Concrete is planned to be used as the main building material in the project. It is aimed to save costs by using concrete and at the same time to make holistic designs in the whole structure. The project generally has a flat roof shape. In addition, it is aimed to save heat by using reflective material as roofing material.
